Klezmer Classes 2004/2005

For professional and amateur musicians, all instruments welcome


Tuesday evenings at SOAS 7.00—9.00pm
With a pre-class catch-up session at 6.30pm

Starting 5 October 2004

Learn to play Eastern European Jewish dance music - khosidl, sher, freylekhs and bulgar – on Tuesday evenings with opportunities to learn the dance steps at a Jam and Dance Session on a Sunday afternoon once a month (see below). At the end of the term (19 December), there'll be a seasonal social event where you can show off your new-found skills to your friends and family in a convivial atmosphere!

Fees:
20 classes over two terms. 5 October—29 March
£130 per term (£110 if booked and paid by 5 October)

Reduced rate for unwaged etc:
£90 per term if booked by 5 October
Students £75 per term (£60 if booked by 5 October).

Sunday Workshops for advanced Klezmer Musicians
taught by Sophie Solomon or Merlin Shepherd
Fees: £15 per session

2.00—4.00pm :
Sunday Jam and Dance sessions for all students and players (whether registered for classes or not)
led by Ilana Cravitz, with Vivi Lachs, Abbi Wood and Andreas Schmitges

Fees: Jam/Dance £10
£20 combined Advanced Workshop, Jam /Dance
