Lord Janner visits SOAS to strengthen links with the Jewish Community

Lord Janner made an unprecedented visit to SOAS on 2nd December 2008 to see for himself whether SOAS's reputation as an anti-semitic University really holds up.

He was warmly welcomed by Director and Principle, Professor Paul Webley as well as a team of Jewish related Lecturers including Colin Schindler Professor of Israeli Studies and Dr Abigail Wood, the Lecturer in Jewish Music. Jewish Music Institute representatives Geraldine Auerbach, Laoise Davidson and Walter Goldsmith were also present.

Lord Janner learnt about all the Jewish and Israeli related activity at the University as well as the background to the claims and was amazed at the difference between the reality and the many claims perpetuated in the Jewish press.

He also met with Jewish and non-Jewish students from the Jewish Society and the Israeli society who asserted that there were students at SOAS with all viewpoints and from many backgrounds, and that Jewish students were not discriminated against in any way.
