A Yiddish Cabaret
posted 13 March 2004

Sunday 13 June 2004, 7.30pm
We are absolutely delighted that the great Yiddish actress Anna Tzelniker will be doing the first half of the Yiddish Cabaret. Her act will include excerpts from the well-known plays 'Mirele Efros' The King of Lampedusa and Fiddler on the Roof as well as her rich memories of over 70 years travelling the world in the Yiddish Theatre.

Recapturing the spirit of the great Yiddish 'kleynkunst' cabarets of the 1920s and 30s, comedian David Schneider produces and directs an evening of Yiddish comedy, klezmer and clowning, ranging from sketches by Sholem Aleykhem to new Yiddish shtik written especially for the occasion. This will be the first Yiddish cabaret night in this country for many a year - a hugely enjoyable evening whether you speak Yiddish or not.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund
