JMI KlezFest Faculty 2008 modified 31 January 2008 Steve Weintraub (Atlanta, GA), is an internationally recognized authority on authentic Eastern European dance and has a special gift for sharing the style, flavor, steps and figures of Yiddish dance. Besides leading dance at weddings and bnei mitzvah, Steve has been the Yiddish dance instructor at KlezKamp since '97, and with his dance partner, Sharona Rubinstein, has created dances for the Workman's Circle Cultural Seder for more than 10 years. He takes special delight in putting the traditional wedding dances into context through the reconstruction of a turn of the century Jewish wedding. The Jewish Music Institute is an independent Arts organisation based at SOAS, University of London. It is an international focus bringing the ancient yet contemporary musical culture of the Jews to the mainstream British cultural, academic and social life.
