Ilana Cravitz Book Launch / Remembering Michael
modified 1 August 2008

Monday 11th August, 8:15pm
Ilana Cravitz Book Lauch

Come and celebrate the launch of Ilana Cravitz's debut book in true KlezFest style - and get a glass of champagne to toast the new arrival.

Ilana's book, published with Oxford University Press, is entitled "Klezmer - a how-to Guide". This book will prove invaluable to Klezmer newbies and improvers, as well as a useful tool for intermediate and advanced klezmer musicians.

Remembering Michael, 9:00pm
For those who remember Michael, and for those who didnt, join KlezFest in Remembering Michael, a Yiddish dance evening featuring Michael's favourite Klezmer tunes and dances. Led by Michael's music partner Ros Hawley, with dancing led by Andreas Schmitges and Steve Weintraub.

Michael Kahan was a wonderful musician and human being, who was sadly killed in a terrible incident involving a mentally ill person, while on his way home from buying his Sunday morning bagel. Michael had attended several KlezFests and will be remembered as a lovely, warm hearted man, a talented musician and a treasured colleague and friend. For more about Michael read this...
