JMI Klezmer and Yiddish Summer Schools
2009 Fees and Booking - Lower fees this year We are well aware of the credit crunch. We have had to pull in our belts and – and from wondering whether we could present KlezFest this year at all – we have been so overwhelmed with the positive responses from members of the faculty that together, we feel we have been able to produce a very focused, useful and exciting programme for you. We are also looking at ways of reducing the cost of KlezFest for you, to make it easier for you to attend. The full fee will be just £235 this year (instead of £310) and for students (£135 – instead of £210). Some scholarships will also still be available. We will run the course this year at SOAS again, using the great facilities on our Vernon Square Campus. This is on Penton Rise very near Kings Cross where there are spacious newly refurbished rooms – with dance floors. This is right next door to the student hostels – so that could be convenient – and cheap as well. (see www.SOAS.ac.uk). Meals and refreshments will be available on campus – at less money that we would have had to pay to provide them for you – so we will not be providing meals this year but we will provide a place to be together to eat them. There is still the early booking discount of £15 off if you book and pay in full by 31 May. There will be another hefty reduction of a total of £50 (£30 on student rate) if you attend both KlezFest and Ot Azoy! – the Yiddish language and culture course which will run in the previous week (Sunday 2 to Friday 7 August). Furthermore if you are attending and you bring a friend who has not been before, then you and the friend will each get a £15 discount. And if you are part of an ensemble there is a further £10 off each member. To apply for KlezFest or Ot Azoy! please download and print the following form, complete and send to JMI. Alternatively save the form on your computer and email it to y.glass@jmi.org.uk
