Judith Cohen will be in London and will give an exclusive workshop for singers in this fascinating subject. The first part will be an overview of Judeo-Spanish ("Ladino")
song: main areas and genres of the traditional repertoire and performance

register: About Judith Cohen: Dr Judith Cohen was born in Montreal , where she obtained her MA in Medieval Studies and Doctorate in Ethnomusicology, specialising in Sephardic music. Also well known as a performer of Sephardic and several other traditions, she has published many articles and book chapters on aspects of Sephardic music and her of her fieldwork among Crypto-Jews in Portugal . Dr Cohen teaches at York University in Toronto , and has just released a new CD , "Sepharad in Diaspora", together with her daughter Tamar. This summer, she is carrying out research projects in Spain and Portugal , and will be singing for the Jewish community in Sarajevo and speaking at a conference in Bulgaria .
