ICSM Online Journal > Listings Auction of Zemlinsky Manuscripts On 1 December 2005,Sotheby's of London will auction the manuscripts of two hitherto unknown works for cello and piano by Alexander Zemlinsky: Drei Stücke (Humoreske, Lied and Tarantell), dating from January 1891, and the Sonata in A minor, composed in January-March 1894. Both MSS bear dedications to Friedrich Buxbaum, principal cellist of
the Vienna
Philharmonic from 1901 to 1938 and for many years cellist of the Rosé Quartet.
The
manuscripts (which include an autograph cello part of the Sonata) were recently
discovered
in a private collection in North Wales.
