Musical tool-kit for the High Holidays
A four-day course to give real support to people who find themselves responsible for music in the synagogue and may not be music specialists.

Morning sessions: 10.00am - 1.00pm
How to deal with different situations
Covers topics to help Rabbis and community leaders who need to lead music.
With question and answer sessions and role play
1. what would I chose as meaningful music for my services?
2. I cant sing - so how can I develop my vocal skills - breathing, pitching, voice protection/projection?
3. the community does not have /does have music but it is not energising and I want to improve it?
4. how do I use the strengths and popularity of members of the community to bring others on side?
5. how do I empower musical people in the community to contribute their skills?
6. how do I pace the service with listening to and joining in music?
7. how do I start a choir - or refresh an existing one?
8. how can I involve children?
9. how do I communicate about what the music is doing at any particular time?
10. how should I introduce new music to adults or children?
11. how could I use instruments ?

Afternoon sessions: 2.30pm - 5.30pm
getting to the music of the High Holidays -
Nusach and how to use it in progressive situations, set pieces and congregational melodies

Early evening sessions: 6.30pm - 8.00pm
Tuesday 17 June workshop on the draft new music book for the Reform Movement with Rabbi Sybil Sheridan
Wednesday 18 June sharing the best things that have happened musically in your congregation.
