Tantshoyz

What’s a Tantshoyz?

This is a Yiddishe Barn Dance or Klezmer Ceilidh.  A dance caller will lead the participants the simple and stylish line and circle dances to a live klezmer band. This is ideal participatory entertainment for a birthday or anniversary party – or for a fundraising function for your school or community.

Neil Hornick, London, June 2009 says:

It turned out to be a great idea to hitch my birthday party to the Klezmer ‘barn-dance’ – led by the admirable Ilana Cravitz. My guests and I – Jewish and non-Jewish alike - were all exhilarated by what was a completely fresh (and instructive) experience.  Even those sitting on the sidelines had an enjoyable time.  The fact that my great-grandfather back in 19th Century Poland was himself a klezmer musician lent the occasion a special poignancy. Thoroughly recommended for people of all ages.
