THE BIG KLEZMER JAM IS TAKING A BREAK
More about the Big Klezmer Jam:
Whether you are an amateur klezmer lover looking to share tunes in a super friendly vibe or a professional wanting to widen and enrich your musical skills and understanding of Jewish Eastern European folk music, the Big Klezmer Jam is open to people of all abilities.
Thinking about coming to the BKJ?
Q:‘ I am already a highly experienced trained musician. Why would I want to come to a klezmer jam and learn tunes? What can I gain?
A: Well at each jam, one of the UK’s top experts in klezmer music will aim to inspire you, giving you a fresh slant on how to approach this style of music giving you hands-on tips on how to incorporate the klezmer style into your playing. They’ll also give tips on improvisation techniques and share some melodies that you can take home with you. If you are a melody player, klezmer offers an interesting opportunity to cross to the other side and learn rhythmic and (where appropriate) chordal accompaniments. Based upon folk traditions, klezmer music and its stylistic features are traditionally passed on aurally thus promoting flexible and intuitive musicianship with an Eastern European flavour.
