Tribute Concert to Debbie Friedman Commemorating 10 years since her passing
Debbie Friedman (1951-2011) was an American singer-songwriter of Jewish religious songs and melodies. Many Jewish congregations all over the world use her songs to this day. In this a one-hour show with Israeli singer Bat Ella, who performed together on tours in the USA and in Europe with Debbie, will present a concert including many of Debbie’s hits, as well as some Israeli songs that are inspired by Debbie’s spirit.
About Bat Ella
Bat Ella an Israeli singer who grew up in Dimona, Israel, to parents of Aleppo and Persian origins. Bat Ella is a sabra who is very proud of her Jewish heritage. She is a graduate of the IDF Performing Art Troupe. Bat Ella presents pluralistic, egalitarian and Israeli Judaism. She believes that Judaism belongs to all Jews and that there is more than one-way to be a Jew.
She has made it her mission to pursue the value of “Kiruv Levavot” (bringing souls together) and she brings this to life in a unique way in her engaging concerts in Israel and abroad. Her music represents a soulful bridge among people of all religions and ethnicities, between Jews and Arabs, secular and religious Jews, Israel and the Diaspora.
Bat Ella sings songs of prayer and inspiration from the Jewish and Israeli sources in melodies and arrangements that express the rich musical tapestry of the Israeli melting pot. She performs in 3 formats: with a full 6 person band, in acoustic style with fewer musicians and in a solo experiential style that invites audience participation.
