Doors 3.45pm, music 4pm

Music of Jewish origin and cutting edge jazz sounds fused together to create Jewish music as you’ve never heard it before. Led by inspirational band leader Sam Eastmond (Spike Orchestra, John Zorn) this is music for the next generation performed by the next generation.

The JMI Youth Big Band – a raucous ensemble of teenagers with a passion for Jazz, Funk, Rock and Contemporary music – make their exciting debut at Vortex Jazz Club where they will be performing tracks from their second album – “Bet: We Are Here” – which was all recorded live at the Vortex during lock-down in June 2021.

“A radical revelation! They play with an assurance, fluency and confidence rarely seen from such youthful ensembles.” – Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3

“It’s so great to hear how Sam Eastmond has successfully developed his own artistic voice, and is using it so generously and inspirationally for the benefit of all the young people in the band. Long may it continue!” – Mark Armstrong, Artistic Director NYJO
